So here I am trying my hand (insert short laugh) at blogging. I've been told I am far more witty and humorous on paper, but I digress.
I don't want to write about what's already written on our website open-hand.org but I do think it's important to state that Alisha and I went to Burundi, Africa for the first time back in December 2012, and our hearts were forever impacted.
Do you see how gorgeous this place is? It's like being in Hawaii and then turning around and seeing utter thirdworldness (because that IS a word) all at the same time. Such beauty and such sadness all at once. So yes, the topography is gorgeous, but it's the people who captured our attention. Only the hardest of hearts can experience a truly third world county and leave the same.
So yes, I have no clue what I'm doing but I do know this - I plan on making a difference with my life. Alisha and I were not made to sit on the sidelines. We want to be in the trenches, changing the world, one woman at a time, one family at a time, and one village at a time.
And that is what Open Hand is all about - a lifestyle of generosity. So in the words of some huge brand named commercial I can't recall right now "Let's Do This Thing". Oh and one more thing, I have no desire to be a small pebble in the ocean of humanity, I want to be like a meteor crashing into the ocean and causing ripple after ripple of aftershocks that impact lives for many generations. (see, that's not asking too much right?).
Awesome material my friend! I am looking forward to making an impact with you!! XO
